Professor Dr. Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom’s life’s work is a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and technological innovation. Over the span of 14 years, he served as a dedicated professor in the Engineering Faculty of King Mongkut Institute of Technology. During this time, he assumed key leadership roles, including heading the Electronics Engineering Department, serving as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and later as the Dean of both the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Graduate Study.

His pioneering spirit is reflected in a range of groundbreaking inventions and contributions, from specialized machine-guns using linear motors to a video compression system and even a taxi-meter that became mandatory for Bangkok taxis. Professor Dr. Sitthichai’s legacy extends to founding the Mahanakorn Institute of Technology, the first private university in Thailand to appoint a Professor of Engineering. His international engagements, including a visiting professorship at the University of London’s Imperial College, emphasized a high standard of staff and forged invaluable partnerships.

His remarkable journey has been marked by prestigious accolades, including becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE), earning an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of New South Wales, and holding significant roles such as a Member of the Board of the Communications Authority of Thailand.

Professor Dr. Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom has not only achieved professional excellence but has also made a profound impact on education and Thai society as a whole. He is truly deserving of this prestigious honor, recognizing his lifelong contributions. 👏
